The legacy of Dr. Arthur Paulson, "Doc" as he was fondly known, is alive and well and still reaching out to help the animals. Sunday, July 20th, at the Long Beach Country Club in Wainfleet promises to be a great day of golf and fun, topped up with a buffet lunch and awards. You may register for this 9-hole 2-person scramble tournament for the low price of $35 ($25 for LBCC members). Please click here for the Event poster and the registration. Let's support the animals 'fore' Doc!!

Circle your calendar for an entertaining evening and a great cause!!! On Saturday, August 16, 2014 we will be holding our annual PAWS AID fundraiser at Club Richelieu. For the bargain price of $5, you can look forward to a lively evening of entertainment, games of chance, buffet, door prizes and draws. Tickets are available at the Welland Shelter, Cat Adoption Centre and the door. Click here for further information.

Our 5th Annual PAWS AID event will be held in support of our cat adoption summer discount program. Last year's long and busy kitten season challenged our resources however thanks to fundraising which allowed us to discount our adoption prices, a multitude of kittens and cats found their loving homes. Without the discount program, the outcome may have been very different. Let's make it happen again this year - our feline friends are counting on us!!

CRUISE NIGHTS at Seaway Mall began May 2 and will continue, weather permitting, every Friday evening throughout the summer until September 19. Beautiful classic cars, a BBQ, the chance to win 50/50 and a great gang of people await you!.

Calling All Volunteers!

We would like to reach out to all our volunteers ... past, present and future! Unfortunately our volunteer database ran into a glitch which has left us virtually without contact information for a good many of our volunteers. If you have volunteered for the WDHS in the last year but have not heard from us lately, we would very much appreciate hearing from you! We would like to rebuild our database as soon as possible as we are approaching our busy season for adoptathons and fundraising events.

If you have not volunteered in the past but would like to consider doing so now, we would love to hear from you as well. We could not do what we need to do for the animals without the dedication and commitment of our valued volunteers. Without a doubt, volunteers are the cornerstone of the Welland & District Humane Society. View our volunteer application. THANK YOU!!

Our Cat Adoption Centre at Seaway Mall has been extremely successful - over 1300 adoptions (and counting!) since opening in April 2012. Our dedicated volunteers who capably care for the cats, greet visitors to the centre and enthusiastically promote adoptions play a vital role in that success. We could not make this work without their commitment and passion for their feline friends!

We are always looking for mature, reliable adults to augment our "Cat Crew" volunteer team. Familiarity with cats, interacting with the public in a positive manner and the ability to carry out cleaning and infection control practices according to instructions are extremely important. Volunteers are needed for weekdays, evenings and weekends and shifts are assigned according to their availability as stipulated on the application.

If you would like to make a positive impact on the lives of many cats and kittens and turn your spare time into many rewarding moments, the Welland & District Humane Society would love to hear from you. Please complete the Cat Crew Volunteer Application and/or email whs@wellandhumanesociety.org. Thank you!!

Cleaning out your closets - good for you and good for us!

We are now providing a drop-off location for your unwanted CLOTHING, SHOES AND LINENS. These items will be put to good use by a local charitable group and according to the volume collected, a donation will be made to the WDHS. A bin is ready and waiting in our parking lot - thanks for your support!

The WDHS is pleased to partner with Pioneer Gas through their Bonus Bucks Program. Pioneer Bonus Bucks cards are available at the Shelter - use this card every time you fill up and the Bonus Bucks will be automatically transferred to the WDHS account.
